Wout van Aerts and the out-of-this-world Remco Evenepoels know where they stand if they want to take a shot at the Paris 2024 Olympic title. The organization announced the tournament today.
The start and finish of the Olympic Road Race are in Trocadero Park. On the way, 180 men and 180 women pass the Château de Versailles and several times the Montmartre hill.
The route alternates urban landscapes along the most famous sites of the French capital with the Ile-de-France countryside.
Men and women follow a similar route, although the men cycle more than 100 km. 158 km for Kopecky and Co., 273 km for our guys. Then we knew the successor of the Austrian Anna Keisenhofer and the Ecuadorean Richard Carapaz, the only one who could stay ahead of Wout van Aert.

The number of altimeters for the Paris road race is generally limited, although men still make it to 2800. The road is high and especially the steep flanks of Montmartre are real calf muscles.
After setting off at the Place de Trocadero, riders will cycle through Versailles to the castle in the direction of the Vallée de Chevreuse. There the peloton will be presented with a number of climbs with a gradient of more than 5 percent.
On the way back to Paris, the path passes through the Louvre Museum for a number of local courses. According to the organizers, this is “difficult”, because the riders have to cross the cobblestones of Montmartre, the part of the track that heads uphill.
After two local turns, the path winds through the Basilica of the Sacred Heart to a winding finale. The last 230m takes the riders back to the finish line at Trocadéro.

The course of the time trial was also shown. The 32.4-kilometre loop has been completed in the same way by both men and women and is “completely flat”. The route starts at Les Invallides, near Pont Alexandre III.
