Israel could count on the support of the home crowd in Tel Aviv, but the Belgian cats were not in the least affected by the cheering from the stands. The Belgians immediately grabbed the hosts with their nimble and sharp basketball, and the whistle-blowing concerts in Belgium’s possession were quickly decimated.
Because Belgium was sovereign and turned it into real proof. With Allemand as an incomparable leader and especially first starters Meesseman (inside) and Vanloo (5 three-pointers) as the uprights, the Cats steamed out a huge lead early on.
Israel sought (and found) salvation in three indicators, but collectively impressive Belgium outperformed their opponent across the board.
In addition, the cats with the powerful variant Résimont got another
Additional trump card in the attack. The Kangoeroes impressed, hitting 6 of their 7 three-pointers without any issues and was the game’s deputy leading scorer with 22 points.
In the third quarter, the Belgians pushed hard, before taking their foot off the accelerator, with tomorrow’s game against the Czech Republic (11.15am) in mind.
And even in save mode, the Cats were still good for the European Championship record. The Belgian women finished the game with 37 assists, 2 better than their own record since 2021.
The victory was finally generous: 108-59. And although this match against poor Israel was not a real indicator, it is indeed a huge confidence boost. Belgian cats set the tone, as have their competitors.
Belgium: Meesseman 23, Résimont 22, Vanloo 16, Allemand 14, Linskens 12, Becky Massey 7, Delaere 5, Lisowa Mbaka 5, Geldof 4. Billy Massey, Mononga and Ramit did not score.
