There are nearly a hundred animal statues in London, and the number of famous women immortalized in the picture is still at fifty. In total, in the British capital there are about 1,500 sculptures of people in public places.

The municipality is providing £1m to make public art in the city more ‘inclusive’. London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in a statement: “London’s diversity is its greatest strength, but for far too long the statues and names of streets and buildings in our capital have shown a limited perspective on the complex history of our city.”
“I am committed to doing everything in my power to ensure that our public world presents a more complete picture of everyone who made London the wonderful city that it is today,” Khan promised.
