Electric cars usually consume more than the manufacturing country. The result is a lower quality range than you might expect. This time we test the driving range of the BMW iX1.
The difference in WLTP specific range and actual range is significant for some cars. For this reason, Autovisie tests the real average driving range in practice with air conditioning and radio on. This way you’ll know better how far you really get your EV.
Test with BMW iX1
Autovisie went for a double test with the BMW iX1 and Lexus RZ and did the well-known benchmark tour. The BMW’s specified range is 440 useful kilometers. But what is left of that in practice?
We drove a BMW iX1 xDrive30, which is currently the only replacement available. Supply is expected to expand in both directions in due course. The ’30 has an electric motor on each axle with 190 hp and 247 Nm, and together they can produce a maximum of 313 hp and 494 Nm.
This is the actual range and charging speed of the Smart #1
The usable battery capacity isn’t particularly large at 64.7 kWh (for example, the Audi Q4 e-tron has a capacity of 77 kWh), but we know that BMW electric cars are usually very economical with energy use in practice. .
actual range
In this test with the BMW iX1, we achieved below the specified range, but not maximum results. According to the manufacturer, the WLTP consumption of the BMW iX1 is 16.8 kWh per 100 km. The measured consumption is 16.4 kWh per 100 km. The plant figures include load losses in the calculation.
Of the 440 kilometers of range that the BMW iX1 should have, 394 kilometers are left in practice. The charge time of 28 minutes from 10 to 80 percent was also very accurate and better than specified. The test was carried out on a summer day, and therefore under ideal conditions for an electric car.
Average WLTP consumption | 16.8 kWh / 100 km |
measured consumption | 16.4 kWh / 100 km |
WLTP domain | 440 km |
measured range | 394 km |
Charging time 10-80% | 29 minutes |
Measured loading time 10-80% | 28 minutes |
the above. Charging speed measurement | 129 kW |
Weight and range problems put an end to the Volkswagen tradition
