This weekend again a race on Belgian dirt: “May there be room for GP Vermarc participants” | Cycling

After the moving spring, the peloton will be back on the Belgian asphalt roads this weekend. On Sunday, the third edition of GP Vermarc will attract top riders such as Tim Wellens and Gianni Vermeersch. The organizer himself says: “The field of our participants must be present.”

The GP Vermarc is ready for its third release on Sunday. The professional race was first held on July 5, 2020. It was the first professional race after the lockdown in the full Corona pandemic. Now for the first time there is GP Vermarc without restrictions.

“We haven’t made any changes to the course,” explained Mark Verbeek, course organizer. “This means that the start is still at the Olivierstraat in Wezemaal. After a loop of about 10 km we start at the Beninkstraat on ten local courses of 15.4 km each, where the Middelberg and Het Rot climbs sit.”

“The intent is that we continue to follow this cycle in order to give GP Vermarc its own identity.”

So our participant field should be there.

The field of participants also looks promising. With Lotto Soudal, one team will start the World Tour in Wezemaal. “Loto Soudal is coming down with Tim Wells,” Verbeek said. Gianni Vermeersch and Lionel Tamino, who won a stage at the last Dunkirk Four Days, are also present at Alpecin-Fenix.

“The Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise, Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB and nearly all cyclo-cross teams continue to add to our peloton. Thus, the provisional list of participants includes Laurens Sweeck, Michael Vanthourenhout, Thibau Nys and Lars van der Haar. Our field therefore allows participants . “The good”.
