Employees who fell under the Corona unemployment system in the first semester of 2022 will not lose any vacation days or part of their vacation pay. This was announced by Labor Minister Pierre-Yves Derman.
In the first half of 2022, companies can still rely on the Corona unemployment system. But those days of unemployment were not counted as equivalent to the right to leave, unlike in 2020 and 2021.
Result: Corona unemployment days in 2022 are not counted in calculating the number of vacation days and vacation salary for this year. ACV calculated that as a result, more than 300,000 employees will lose vacation money and days off this year. ABVV even talks about 400,000 employees.
“I hope everything is settled now.”
To help employers and payment funds, the government has also decided that the social and financial income associated with this assimilation will be returned to them. “They do not cover the full cost, but solutions are being studied to deal with the budget problem in the medium term,” explains the cabinet headed by Minister Darman.
ACV responds with relief. National Secretary Coen Mesters said: “We hope now that everything is finally in order for blue-collar and white-collar workers.”
