showbizOne of the most famous and popular musicals ever to be staged in Flanders will soon be performed. Les Misérables is a constant value in the repertoire and this is also reflected in ticket sales for the Flemish/Dutch co-production. More than 250,000 tickets have already been sold. It was just announced by Studio 100.
“Les Misérables” received a Double Diamond Ticket Award from the producers for more than 250,000 tickets sold for their tour through Flanders and the Netherlands. This was celebrated at the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam with this unique award. The musical — directed by Cameron Mackintosh, 76 — is currently playing in our northern neighbours, but this fall you’ll also be able to enjoy it on Flemish theatres.

The cast is made up of a diverse mix of Dutch and Flemish musical stars. In the Flemish version, for example, Nordin De Moor (38) plays Inspector Javert and we see Ianthe Tavernier (34) as Eponine, who shines with the captivating single number “On My Own”. Jonas van Geel (38) and Joel de Raedt (44) together make up Thénardiers, a pair of hoteliers of dubious reputation.
Strongholds of Dutch production will remain on board. For example, Milan van Wardenburg leads the main cast as Jean Valjean and we see Chana Hewitt return as Fantine who made such an impression earlier in the press show with her catchy version of “My Dream”. Sim Gryatsma as Cosette, Michael Mederman as her lover Marius and Mark Roy Loeks as student leader Ingolras will also be there.

Studio 100 head Gert Verhulst is very excited to bring the beloved story to Flanders and the Netherlands: “It’s unlikely how this musical tickles my socks off again and again. So I’m glad “Very proud and proud that we can bring Les Misérables back to Flanders this autumn. With Jonas van Geel, Ianthe Tavernier, Nordan de Maur and Joel de Raidt, we have in any case assembled a strong Flemish crew who can bring this masterpiece back to life.”
