Trump raises eyebrows again with his statements about the war: “I was in Putin’s eyes” | Ukraine and Russia war

Larry Kudlow interviewed Trump on Friday. During the interview, Trump again claimed that he could have stopped Russian President Vladimir Putin, 70, from invading Ukraine on February 24, 2022. “Putin would never have attacked Ukraine because of my relationship with him,” the former president said. “My personality is more than his. I spoke to him regularly. I was the apple of his eye.”

This is not the first time Trump has argued that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine can be ended. In January, he said he could “stop the horrific war within 24 hours of negotiations” as president. Ironically, the former president called Putin’s military actions “genius” last year.

Trump’s statement caused an uproar. Imagine if Barack Obama had openly and proudly called himself “the apple of Putin’s eye” during his eight years in office. “The right would have exploded immediately and Fox would have demanded an impeachment and conviction,” MSNBC host Mehdi Hassan said on Twitter previously.
