An international arrest warrant has been issued against Sharia. He was arrested in Tarragona province. Shari was questioned and released on parole, apparently. For example, he is not allowed to leave Spanish territory and his passport has been revoked. He will also have to report to the court twice a month.
Ukrainian authorities request the extradition of Shari. They call him the promoter and accuse him of “crimes of high treason and incitement to hatred”.
The blogger has nearly three million followers on his YouTube channel, and he also has his own news site. Since 2014, Shari has become increasingly pro-Russian. He criticizes the Maidan revolution and the war against the pro-Russian separatists in the Donbass.
In 2019, Shari founded a political party, “Sharia Party”. He won 2.2 percent of the vote in the last parliamentary elections in Ukraine. The party had no members of parliament, but was able to secure several positions in local governments the following year. Like other pro-Russian parties, the “Sharia Party” was banned in March in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
