The U.S. secretary said the U.S. economy and public finances are in good shape to support U.S. interests abroad.
He said it was too early to fully assess the economic impact of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and oil and natural gas prices remained volatile amid growing concerns about a wider war in the Middle East.
He pointed to a sharp decline in inflation, but he called on Republicans to quickly appoint a new speaker of the House of Representatives so that more fiscal aid can be provided.
We need to bring money to Israel and Ukraine. It’s a priority
“We need to bring money to Israel and Ukraine. It’s a priority,” Yellen said. “It’s really up to the House to find a new speaker and put us in a position to vote on legislation again.”
“The United States can certainly stand with Israel and meet Israel’s military needs, and we can continue to support Ukraine in its struggle against Russia.”
