American basketball women have officially qualified for the semifinals. The United States has no problem with Australia: 79-55. They face Serbia in the semifinals on Friday, beating China 77-70.
The United States, looking for its seventh consecutive Olympic gold, failed on the group stage. They won every game, but had to chase after the first quarter.
In the quarterfinals, the American basketball women did not walk again. Against Australia, the world number two, we once again saw the American dominance that has helped them win gold in the last six Olympics.
American Brenna Stewart led his team with 20 points in the first half. The United States led 26-12 after the first quarter. At half it was 48-27.
