VoloConnect, a four-person electric taxi from Volocopter, made its first flight in May. It was a short trip that took a few minutes. VoloConnect will be operational in 2026.
Completed a prototype of the aircraft According to Volocopter Some maneuvers during the first test flight, which lasted two minutes and 14 seconds. According to the company, work was carried out on the plane for only 17 months before this first flight took place.
The VoloConnect has six rotors that provide vertical landing and take-off, after which two electric motors are required to provide sufficient forward speed. The aircraft must eventually reach a range of approximately 100 km and fly at a cruising speed of 180 km/h. The maximum speed is 250 km / h.
The idea is that this range makes air taxis particularly suitable for relatively longer distances, such as transporting businessmen between cities and suburbs. The aircraft must fly autonomously, but according to the regulations, the aircraft can also be controlled by a pilot.
The manufacturer is also working on Volocity, a two-person air taxi with eighteen roundabouts that should be used primarily for transportation within cities. VoloConnect is an extension of VoloCity. additional Volocopter is also working on VoloDronea drone that has to carry payloads of up to 200 kg at a distance of up to 40 km without a crew.
