A group of farmers and their tractors are stationed at the entrance gates of Colruyt supermarkets in Hanoët and Warémie, in the Liège department. Belga located it on site Saturday afternoon.
The two Colruyt supermarkets in Haspengouw have been completely inaccessible, in Borgworm since Saturday morning and in Hannuit since mid-afternoon Saturday.
“The farmers gathered here around 3.30 p.m. and did not allow anyone to enter. “The demonstrators announced that the protest would continue until 8 p.m., our closing time,” said a store manager at Hanoot. The customers present were able to leave the store without incident. But after that, no No one can enter the site.
The Hannot Young Farmers Federation (FJA) collaborated with Borgworm to implement this measure. “We would like to express our dissatisfaction, especially regarding Colruyt’s announcement to increase the price of meat from 1.50 euros per kilo to no more than 50 cents for the farmer. This is deceiving us,” says farmer Raul Sell.
In recent weeks, farmers across Belgium, but also in Europe, have staged numerous protests to express their dissatisfaction. Many distribution centers were closed, leading to supply problems in stores.
