An (almost) perfect evening for PSV. It was business as usual against Heerenveen with a convincing 0-8 win. Thanks to a brilliant goal from Johan Bakayoko, among others, PSV went in pursuit of the title, but later in the evening rival Feyenoord somewhat postponed the title celebration.
PSV knew they could potentially win the title if they beat Heerenveen, so they had a lot of motivation. This quickly became clear. After 11 minutes the score was 0-3.
Eindhoven's fastest progress since 1982 has been made, but some milestones can still be achieved. Before half-time, Joey Firman made it 0-5, thus completing the captain's 100th goal in the Eredivisie.
Yohan Bakayoko was also allowed to contribute. After making a decisive pass in the first half, he scored an Amiri goal after the end of the first half.
Could there be another record? Thanks to goals from Luuk de Jong and Patrick van Aanholt, the score was 0-8, PSV's biggest ever away win in the Eredivisie.
The visiting fans could already smell the title and set off fireworks very early. After a slight delay, the referee was able to blow the whistle to start the match.
In time for the title party? No, rivals Feyenoord still picked up crucial points against the Go Ahead Eagles and are mathematically still in the competition.
