The Belgian Red Panthers performed straight again after their 3-1 victory over China in the Pro Hockey League. Two consecutive victories are good after four consecutive defeats.
With two wins over England, the Chinese women were on the rise in the Professional Hockey League. So the Red Panthers were warned.
The Belgian women’s hockey team started strong, but the opening goal was again denied after interference from the video referee.
It wasn’t long before the Red Panthers got paid for the work. In two minutes, they took advantage of the weakness of the Chinese defense twice. Pauline Licliffe served Charlotte Engelbert 1-0, and Michelle Strwick did the same with Alexia t Serstevens with a 2-0 score.
Captain Strwick played its role in the third quarter with a third goal. Zhang Ying 3-1 came in a penalty too late to alarm the Red Panthers.
With two straight victories, it looks like the Belgian women’s hockey team has got their taste again. Tomorrow a second match against China will follow, after that there will be a two-way match against India on the programme.
