A new beta version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS includes a security feature that prevents screenshots from taking “one-time viewing” images. Screen capture is also disabled with this feature.
According to WABetaInfo Screenshots can still be taken with regular photos and in chat conversations. In addition, if the function is turned on and a screenshot is blocked, the sender of the image in question will not be notified.
The feature is currently hidden in beta version 22.21.0.71 of the iOS version of WhatsApp. Android users with access to the beta version of WhatsApp must have version 2.33.33.3. The function is inactive for all users.
