Ukraine needs millions of energy-saving light bulbs to counter Russian attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Zelensky said this at a donor conference for Ukraine in Paris.

According to Zelensky, “Ensuring the stability of Ukrainian energy is one of the best ways to stop Russian aggression.” Generators are now just as important as armored vehicles and body armor.
Russia has been targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for weeks now in an effort to freeze and crack the Ukrainian population in the winter temperatures. Several parts of the country are without electricity for several hours a day these days. According to Zelensky, his country lacks, on average, 2.5 gigawatts of electricity.
But if Ukraine got 50 million LED lights — which use less energy than the old ones — it could save 1 gigawatt of electricity. The European Union has already committed to supplying 30 million LED lights. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said: “In these difficult and dark times, it is very important that we shine a light on Ukraine.”
