U.S. Chief Justices Brett Kavanagh and Neil Korsch have been accused of lying during their nominations about their intent to repeal the abortion law in the United States. At least Alexandra Ocazio-Cordes, a Democratic woman, thinks so.

The U.S. Supreme Court last week overturned a ruling in the 1973 case of Rowe Wade, a major role model for legalizing abortion in the United States. The verdict caused great opposition across the country.

The Supreme Court currently has six conservative and three progressive judges. The rise comes after President Donald Trump was allowed to appoint three chief justices – a significant change after years of progressive majorities.

However, Okazio-Cortes claims that Justices Brett Kavanagh and Neil Korsch lied during the trial about their appointment to Congress. In it, the two had said they would not withdraw once Row We Wade was appointed. “They lied,” the New York Congressman said.

Clarence Thomas

Ocasio-Cortez also opened fire on Chief Justice Clarence Thomas. His wife, Ginny, was embroiled in an attempt by President Trump to reverse his election defeat, but Thomas did not shy away from matters related to that conflict of interest.

“I believe that failure to withdraw from cases involving family members is a serious violation of the conflict of interest rules,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “That too is a crime, for which you can be charged.”

Process

The U.S. House of Representatives, with a simple majority currently available to Democrats, could begin the process of dismissal. But final approval requires a two-thirds majority in the Senate, where a majority of Democrats are thin.

Senators like Susan Collins of the Republican Party and Joe Mancin of the right-wing Democrats – Roe V. After their statements on Wade they voted to nominate Korsch and Kavanagh – who have already said they were disappointed. Still, it is unlikely to find enough Republican votes for a two-thirds majority.
