With the 14 series, Xiaomi is mainly focusing on the camera. The company is working with Leica, which will feature Leica Summilux optics in the smartphone.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra
The top model of all is the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, fully equipped for the best video and photo quality. The smartphone comes with a stunning round camera module with a flat back. The device is available in white and black versions. The body is built around the Xiaomi Guardian chassis, which simply means that the device has a very strong aluminum frame, as well as nano-tech vegan leather and Xiaomi Shield Glass.
The round screen measures 6.73 inches and is equipped with AMOLED technology. The screen resolution is 3200 x 1440 pixels, which equates to a density of 522 pixels per inch. Thanks to the variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, all movements on the screen are smooth and the battery life can be extended if necessary. Maximum brightness is 3000 nits.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is equipped with a professional quad camera configuration with focal lengths from 12mm to 120mm. The main camera is equipped with a continuously variable ƒ/1.63-ƒ/4.0 aperture. The large 1-inch LYT-900 image sensor with up to 14EV dynamic range should ensure the best image quality in all conditions. Finally, the system is equipped with a floating 75mm Leica telephoto lens, a 120mm Leica periscope lens, and a 12mm Leica ultra-wide lens.
The device must also be very suitable for video. For example, all four cameras can record 8K videos at 30 frames per second. The main camera has the ability to record 4K at 120fps and can be adjusted for up to 5x slow motion effects. At 4K resolution, you can search at a maximum of 60 frames per second. The device also supports 4K Dolby Vision recording at 60fps and an additional microphone should ensure surround sound and directional recordings. For a professional video look, it's now possible to shoot with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and a 180-degree shutter speed. The new MasterCinema encodes HDR videos in 10-bit Rec.2020 format to capture richer details, highlights and shadows, surpassing the previous 8-bit BT.709 standard, especially on HDR displays.
A special Ultra Photography Kit was released with the 14 Ultra. The company launches a special grip and case, equipped, among other things, with an additional shutter button, zoom buttons and a customizable record button. The accessory is also an external charging station that can add 1,500 mAh battery life.
Xiaomi 14
For those who have less high expectations for the camera system, there is also the Xiaomi 14. This device measures 152.8mm x 71.5mm x 8.20mm and has a slightly curved back for a perfect grip.
Although it can't compare to the Ultra, the 14 still offers an impressive camera system, consisting of three cameras with focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 75mm. The Xiaomi 14 is equipped with Leica Summilux optical lenses with improved ƒ/1.6 aperture on the main camera, as well as a Light Fusion 900 image sensor and a dynamic range of up to 13.5EV. Additionally, the resolution of the Leica 14mm lens has been increased to 50MP and you have access to the Leica 75mm telephoto lens with a focus point of just 10cm.
Moreover, the device comes with a 6.36-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2670 x 1200 pixels. This results in a pixel density of 460 ppi. The maximum brightness is 3,000 nits and the refresh rate ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz.
Snapdragon 8 3rd generation
Both the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which delivers 32 percent better CPU performance and 34 percent lower power consumption compared to the previous generation. The 14 Series is also equipped with the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 chipset that enables WiFi 7 connectivity.
Both the smartphones are also equipped with a special cooling system that keeps the device cool during heavy tasks. The 14 Ultra has an additional thermal channel aimed just at the camera. The Xiaomi 14 is equipped with a 4,610 mAh battery with 90W HyperCharge technology and 50W Wireless HyperCharge charging. The 14 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery with 90W HyperCharge and 80W HyperCharge wireless charging.
Xiaomi HyperOS
In terms of software, both smartphones are equipped with the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system based on Android. The manufacturer has built in several new features, including new integration with Google Photos. Artificial intelligence is also fully present, including AI translations that allow for real-time translation of videos, AI album search that makes it easier to search for photos, and selfies that allow you to have images made from existing photos.
Xiaomi iPad 6s Pro 12.4
In addition to two new smartphones, Xiaomi is also introducing a new tablet: the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4. This 12.4-inch model features a 144Hz 3K display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3048 x 2032 pixels. The 10,000 mAh battery with 120W HyperCharge technology should ensure that the device lasts a full day.
Moreover, the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and Android-based Xiaomi HyperOS software. This software has a number of tablet-specific features, including the ability to operate your smartphone directly from your tablet (answer calls or take photos, for example), operate your smart home using a special control panel and easily take notes on the screen.
Xiaomi is launching the Focus Pen and Pad 6S Pro Touchpad Keyboard specifically for the tablet. This turns the device into an almost full-featured laptop. The keyboard positions the tablet at an angle for comfortable working and has a touchpad, so operating via the screen isn't necessary. The focus pen has 8192 pressure levels for the perfect writing experience.
