Maryna Zanevska (WTA-97) successfully completed her first hurdle at the US Open. On her inaugural tour, she defeated Coco Vandeweghe in two sets, thus ensuring her first Belgian success in New York. It is also the first time that Zaniewska has qualified for the second round of this tournament.
Zanevska is 20 places higher in the world rankings than Vandeweghe and in the first group our compatriot also showed that he is on court 11. She barely allowed the host player to play.
But for his fans, Vandeweghe fought back hard in the second set. The American even made two specific points, but Zaniewska always had an answer.
After an hour and a half the match ended. Zaniewska, who was in the main draw before, is now running in the second round in New York for the first time. Now she meets Veronika Kodermetova (WTA-18).
